How to Buy A Bikini

The mere thought of having to buy a bikini can cause fear in the best of us and send others running for the hills, but buying the perfect bikini doesn’t have to be a nightmare.
Here are some tips to make it as simple as possible.
Firstly, work out what colors suit your personal skin tone.  While an olive complexion may look stunning in a white or neutral color bikini, the same thing on a pale complexion will look washed out and dull.
Secondly, take a step back and objectively work out your body type.  Most bodies can be categorized into 4 types, tube, apple, pear and hourglass.  Define your type and narrowing down what bikini to buy will be a lot easier.

Buy Bikini

Tube shapes should concentrate on styles that add volume thus creating the illusion of curves.  These can include prints, padding, frills, and embellishments.
Apple shapes usually have a problem tummy area and should look for styles that work on hiding it.  A monokini can be a great option for those who still like a more revealing look.  Other options include a tankini or bikini bottoms that sit up a little higher than the hipsters favored by the slimmer girls.

Pear shapes should concentrate on minimizing their bottom half while accentuating their top half.  The best way to do this is to buy a bikini top that is padded and/or a bright print to bring the eye to your top half.  Choosing bottom that are relatively plain will help to emphasize the top half of the body.

Hourglass shapes usually find it the easiest to buy a bikini. However, many women are different sizes on top and bottom and buying from a bikini shop that offers split sizes can be your best friend.

In your search to buy the perfect bikini don’t forget to look at the quality of the swimsuit.  Higher Lycra contents of 18-20% and swimwear that is lined mean that the bikini you buy will last longer.  Also, if you care for your bikini properly by washing in warm soapy water and hanging out to dry you will find that your swimsuit will keep its’ shape for more than one season.

Bikini Jeans - Say What?

OK I just discovered this new trend that has started in Japan called bikini jeans.  A cross between jeans and bikini bottoms, I assume these jeans are aimed at the clubbing market, I can’t see anyone wearing them to their local shopping centre. Sexy or skanky?  You decide.
